Leaving or Deleting an Organization

Where to find it

Open Settings → Organization and scroll to the Danger zone card. It acts on the organization you currently have selected, so switch to the right one first if you belong to several.

Neither action touches your GitVelocity account. To delete your account itself, use Delete Account on Settings → Profile.

Leaving an organization

Any member can choose Leave organization. You lose access to that organization's dashboards and settings straight away, and GitVelocity switches you to another organization you belong to. An owner or admin can invite you back later.

If it's your only organization, the confirmation says so. After you leave you won't belong to any organization, and you'll be taken to set up or join one.

If you're the last owner, you can't leave. The card tells you so in place of the button. Either make someone else an owner on Settings → Team and then leave, or delete the organization.

Deleting an organization

Owners also see Delete organization. Deleting disables the organization: it drops out of every member's organization switcher, so nobody can select it any more, and scoring for it stops.

To confirm, type the organization's name exactly as shown. The button stays disabled until the name matches.

Deletion is recoverable. Nothing is erased: repositories, scores and members are all kept. If you delete an organization by mistake, reach out via the in-app chat or support@headline.com and we can restore it.
